Over the past few weeks I have been working on some new designs for my book illustration portfolio.

My work involves making and finding textures and patterns which can be scanned in and used to colour up my illustrations. I am constantly creating new hand drawn patterns to use in my illustrations and am building up quite a library of them. I have some much fun doing this. Anything that involves playing with (and buying) new art materials can't be bad can it?

At the moment I am experimenting with Caran D'ache Neocolour watersoluble wax pastels. They are fabulous to use and the colours are really vibrant.

Off to add a few of these patterns to an illustration.
